Feedback

I had the priviledge to take part in “Time to be in good spirits” training in Estonia. The training course was focused on developing emotional intelligence, team work, resilience, and communication skills for youthworkers. The participants came from Georgia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland, Estonia and Finland. Altogether we were 23 participants and 3 Estonian facilitators gathered in Toila, Estonia during 2.10.-10.10.2023. All of the training content and skills that were taught were very valuable for youthworkers. A lot of the training was in the form of different kinds of games. Through laughter and play we can more easily get to know each other in good spirits. I feel that this form of playful learning is fun and has a way of improving the feeling of unity in the whole group. This feeling of unity or team spirit was necessery with some of the more challenging games as resilience was needed in order to complete the tasks. The variety of games we played were very well considered to improve on our communication skills, emotional intelligence and other skills needed in order to do facilitation work.

The training course delved into six key themes: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, resilience, social skills, and empathy. Most of the activities took place in Toila, but of particular note was a visit to Tallinn. During this excursion, participants had the opportunity to interview Estonian locals, which provided valuable insights into their cultural background. The participants developed key competences such as resilience, communication skills and emotional intelligence through the various activities over the seven days, while at the same time working and living together with people from different backgrounds in an international environment. The variety of activities and the intercultural exchange that took place in a living environment contributed to the professional development of the participants and improved the quality of youth work in their respective countries.
