Objective

The work approach is socio-affective and participatory, fostering a dynamic non formal learning environment with a focus on learning by doing, learning by playing, artistic  and creative methods including theatre, clown and body expression based techniques  (among others), games and interactive activities, as well as learning by facilitating tools.

  • To explore peace education, social justice and personal development through play,  creativity and pleasure pedagogy;
  • To discover and develop diverse and inclusive creative techniques and socio-affective  methods for working with young people with fewer opportunities;
  • To reflect on the effects and impact of the pandemic on youth workers and young  people (with fewer opportunities) and their current needs, relationships and  participation;
  • To encourage ideas and motivation for creating connections and actions in local and  international communities.

Feedback

For 5 full training days we had the chance to grow from strangers to an international ‘family’ of people who care about and know each other.
Following the methods of Otra Escuela for our sessions, we learned to approach complex and heavy topics of social justice in our local realities through care, art and especially playfulness.
It’s been a privilege to be led through this journey by very experienced and professional facilitators who had clearly given much thought to structure, process and how either matched with the group.

The project’s socio-affective and creative approach, with elements such as theater, clowning, and body expression, resonated with my experiences. It impressively focused on peace education, social justice, and personal development, which gained significance due to the pandemic’s impact on marginalized youth. The initiative aimed to foster international connections for positive change, demonstrating a strong commitment to equity and inclusivity in our communities.
