Objective

This project is a eight days youth exchange, during the project young people will experience various non – formal methods and approaches: such as tactical urbanism, case studying, project development etc.  Within the project, participants learn concrete strategies for action: how they can optimize their immediate surroundings, e.g. street, (school) yard, sports or playground, bike paths etc. in their cities with low-cost measures and make the public be aware of existing problems.

  • to give young people the opportunity to reflect on their current situation in their home cities/countries and the role of youth in their development to develop social, intercultural and project-related skills of the participants.
  • to provide young people with space to think about common European values (democracy, security, peace, tolerance and social cohesion).
  • to give the participants the opportunity to realize their own urban project ideas and also to strengthen their participation.

Feedback

Young people came together to Berlin to explore urban life and its problems and creating workshops and solutions to solve them in affordable ways. The project was full of creativity, living with the community and exploring ourselves through the means of diverse streets of Berlin.

In the exchange we learned more about team building in an international team, explored design thinking and Berlin itself. Surrounded by teams from Greece, Turkey, Poland, and Germany, we learned a lot about each other’s home cities and the opportunities for change in urban environment there. By the end of the program we were able to understand each other’s perception of the city life and together tried to enlighten the grey scopes of public spaces in Berlin.

We had a good opportunity to visit interesting places of Berlin and think about the problems/good things in our own cities. Returning home, everyone brought their own inspiration from the program and a sweet taste of friendship connecting young people around the globe.”
