Objective

The “COMICSATION” project’s objective is to improve the abilities of youth workers and educators through the acquisition of efficient, informal, and “youth-friendly” techniques and methodologies. It also aims to facilitate a discussion between participating youth workers to exchange knowledge, information, and best practices about the ideas and principles of youth participation as well as how to motivate and equip young people to get involved at the local, regional, and international levels. Through this LTTC, we hope to accomplish our goal of providing youth workers with innovative techniques, resources, and tools that will inspire them to help young people take action in their communities and have an impact on things by using the well-known techniques of comic creation and storytelling. Due to the numerous advantages they provide for young people, comics can be a useful tool for youth work.

Feedback

The course built upon the project I attended in Berlin, and this time, the serene village of Tauchen in Austria provided an inspiring backdrop with its stunning mountains and forests. The Blue Whale Education Center was the perfect setting for creativity to flourish. Focusing on developing and finalizing our own comics, the course offered me the opportunity to create my first comic, *Jimmy*. I also experimented with doodling and 3D drawing. Bringing my story to life through comics was an incredible experience.

— Fahim

After hours of looking at shapes of characters, emotions, frame from flip charts of previous part, I developed a storyboard with the dialogues only. After rough sketch, I started to draw the final version. Voluntarily working until 2 am every night of a week resulted into a comic which I uploaded in my personal Facebook account. It is a life event, because I never would have the same feelings of crossing my limits in drawing again, winning over fear of drawing (a little bit maybe). Tauchen of Austria would be remembered forever. Thanks you Cyclo Project for helping me crossing a psychological barrier.
